Double Jump could always make a downloadable version of the guide and give it a 20$ price tag or something
this way DJ wouldnt be using a couple thousand pieces of paper to reprint the guidex200 or so

They would be making money at no cost other then time

6/10 good effort

This solution has been proposed many times before, a downloadable guide would be too easy for some schmuck to sell back for phenomenal prices on ebay or pirate

True but that also depends on the person buying the item,
as for me if i bought something on ebay it would have to be the real thing, not some bootleg or fake

How would you know?  Even a really poor pirate knows how to dress up a product to look like the real thing.  In this case, they would just never mention that it's a PDF.  Or mention it but hide it in the fine print.

Then, of course, there's the many, many people who wouldn't care.

If there were a reliable way to control who can read an electronic version (say, the person who bought it and five or ten of their friends), we'd do it in a snap. But e-book piracy is rampant with the current methods.

If it were just people sharing it, I'd probably do it, because that doesn't bother me. We've given away ebooks for our older guides free in the past. It's the snakes who try to make money off your work by selling unauthorized copies that really makes me steamed. I found people selling the link to download the free guides on eBay and eBay wouldn't put a stop to it because you can sell legal free URLs legally, apparently.  Angry

Until that's fixed, we're staying away from it.

thats understandable, people like that ruin it for those of us who are honest and hardcore game and strgy guide collectors

I have sealed copies of Lunar Silver Star and Eternal Blue for Sega CD and PSX as well as the guides for them

You could always put a irreplaceable password on it like "If this was real you downloaded it from www.doublejumpbooks.com and didn't pay for it from some schmuck."

Of course that wouldn't do anything to stop people from selling it.

So when will the guide be old enough that you won't mind putting it out for free?

It's not so much a matter of age as a matter of protection. Last time we put out free PDFs people sold them on eBay. Soon good DRM will be available and we'll release some stuff for free. Dunno about Nocturne since there are other copyright issues involved due to it being a localized Japanese guide.

Yeah, the thing about the SMT guide was that it wasn't a strictly DoubleJump affair.

You should start from the first image, okay? And... Mitsuru, here's an image editor. It might be handy if you, the master of resizing, take it with you.

But it was a strictly kickass affair.

I still owe you guys for that one. It was that guide that sold me on the game more than anything else.
