Didn't manage to see it in your Chests in Holt Village section so kindly remove this if its in the guide. Talk to every NPC on in Holt Village for every episode. Then after completing map 13-1 a chest will appear on top Adell's house on the cauldron (the very same spot Laharl appears in when you summon him). Open the chest and you will receive a Testament.

After completing map 13-4, before fighting the final boss go talk to Mom and Dad. Dad will give Adell a powerful fist weapon called Burning Blow (changed to Burning Rage I think in the US version) and Mom will give Adell a powerful gun called Noble Rose.

Much thanks!

Nope, we did indeed miss that. Rather neat.

(I think the JP guide may have missed it, too.)

kitsura, could you please start posting this stuff in the errata forum? Stuff like this is what it's meant for. As it is I'm going to have to move a ton of your posts.

Yeah, the 12-1 post isn't errata, it's just "look i beat teh guide lol".

This should've totally been in errata to begin with, tho.

I was wondering how I got that testatment in my Japanese playthrough.  I thought maybe it was opening up all the chests.  Ah, good thing I love chatting with NPCs.

Ditto here, though it never occurred to me to go back to town after clearing the 13s and look around for another chest.

Wish kitsura would spill on the bonus rank of that extra chest....

I'm not sure it really has one.  It's always a testatment on top of Adell's house's roof.  I'm also not sure you can reset to get it rare.  I tried about 25 times before giving up, but it could have just been a bad run.

If it's always a Testament then that means it doesn't work like the other bonus chests, and is just a set reward for getting all the bonus chests. If it's set, then getting it to be rare is probably... well, it might be possible, but probably too time consuming to be worth the effort of forcing a rare drop. I wonder if it's rarity value is consistent every time it spawns, too...?

Just tested this further and it seems that you will always get a testament from that chest, nothing else. And its rarity is not consistent so technically you could get a rare one but its not worth the effort when you can easily get an arcadia which is more powerful.

I finally got a rare and then a legendary testatment from that chest.  It's a pain with the resetting, though at least faster than resetting on the Rosalind and Adell weapons you get at the last stage.  Now that is something I haven't really tried for because the dialouge clips make it too slow.

I just got a Legendary Testament on my SECOND reset/reload, so yes, it IS possible.

P.S. Lucky me ! Grin

I just finished map 13-1 (in my first story run though) and I do not see a chest anywhere on the map (I've double checked all roofs). Is there some requirement that you must open all the chest in the previous chapters? I missed a couple of chests in the first chapter before I knew what I was doing.

No, that shouldn't affect the chests showing up in chapter 13. Keep lookin', they should be there.
